2012(the date) – quotes from a book about the massive black hole in the center of our milky way What!!?

Question:
2012(the date) – quotes from a book about the massive black hole in the center of our milky way What!!?
I have this book and quoted something out of it with source so how could they know this and does it mean anything really science related – i don’t give a crap about the whole 2012 thing thinking something is going to happen but this part intrigued me..

The Return of Quetzalcoatl

The Loom of MAYA
Here is a section from chapter four Page 238 – great section to read
In September 2002, astronomers verified the existence of a massive black hole at the center of the Milky Way, naming “Sagittarius B.” Jenkins writes:
Something very profound and mysterious is going on here. Is it just a coincidence that lurking deep within the dark-rift “black hole” is the very real Black Hole at the center of our Galaxy? If not a coincidence, the dark-rift itself might indeed be the surface signifier of deeper cosmic mysteries, ones that the Maya were well aware of.
So how could the maya be aware of this. and what else can you tell me about this anyone -
thank you
Additional Details
My friend says this which makes no sense to me
There are likely super-massive black holes at the center of every galaxy so I don’t see the significance of this.
should this be common knowledge to the maya knowing about a massive black hole

It’s very interesting what you say there, and something is definitely going to happen on that date. All those sudden climate changes are the explanation of a future change on Earth or even in the Milky Way. The world may not end in 2012, but something BIG is going to happen, something that humanity hasn’t seen before. And it may or may not lead to it’s destruction.
But that’s just my point of view.

The Maya were extraordinarily knowledgeable about astronomy no doubt due in part to lack of pollution leading to a clearer sky, lack of TV leading to more free time and longer attention spans, and lack of artificial light, leading to nothing to do at night but sleep and stare at the sky. They very well could have had an idea of black holes. We know now that most galaxies have massive black holes in them, so the Maya could have known. Or Quetzalcotalan aliens could have told them.

Whoever wrote this doesn’t really seem to offer any link to how the Maya could have known this. yes, they did have sophisticated ways of measuring the movements of the stars and planets for their civilization and I’m sure it was a popular way to pass the time, learn about their deities and folklore, and try to predict events in the future. However, I doubt that they had any idea of what a black hole as we know it might be. They may have imagined some mystical force that caused the heavenly bodies to move, but I think this author is trying to make some blind connection between 2012, black holes, and the Mayan civilization.

In this physical dimension we live in there has to be a start and a end,the same as a fire starts and goes out,it seems silly to think they knew anything other than that,a better quest would be to seek out the starter of the fire and not the end,all though they are the same.

The Maya didn’t know about Supermassive Black Holes, and neither did our European ancestors, they were only made evident when Queen Latifah hit the scene! HOOOOOOOOO!!
