Critically examining the "End of the World"
December 21, 2012? What will happen?

Question:
Could this theory of the end of the world be real? This is the last day of the ma-yen calender, and there are many theories out there about what is going to happen to Earth, including the theory of the polar shift. Is there any scientific proof or evidence that this event could arise, or is it just a bunch of bull?

well, is there? what research have you done to take this so seriously?
had you done so you would know that it is a cruel and cynical hoax, nothing more. it is *not* the end of the mayan calendar, just the end of a major cycle. so what? a major cycle of *our* calendar ends next week. take the calendar of a long-dead civilization, wrap it up in mystical nonsensical mumbo jumbo and ppl who don’t know any better lap it up.

I dont belive it has anything to do with the end of the world.our solar system is messed with another just to make it easier to understand one sysem is vertical – A – the other horizontal – B – .both are spinning at their own rate there is a section where where A anb B cross paths at all times.Section A is our system.There is a planet in system B that has an enormous amount of gravitational pull,so much that every object it passes is effected.Planets such as earth will be pulled off of their existing axis toward this incredible gravity.many goverments are monitoring this planet from various locations on earth and in outer space.for example the antarctic.As far as the myans 25000 year calender which the ending date is said to be 12/21/2012,perhaps.

There is no actual scientific theory or evidence that anything unusual is going to happen in 2012. It is a collection of myths and disproven theories being promulgated by doomsday predictors, who predict a new one every few years.
It is based on the end of the current cycle of the Mayan long count calendar. Their calendar was done in ages or cycles and their years ended at the winter solstice. The current cycle ends December 21, 2012. They didn’t predict the end of the world, it was only the end of that cycle.
Nibiru (Planet X) doesn’t exist. Zecharia Sitchin is an author of books promoting the ancient astronaut theory for human origins. He attributes the creation of the ancient Sumerian culture to the Annunaki (or Nephilim) from a hypothetical planet named Nibiru in the solar system. The Doomsayers predicted that it was to hit Earth in 2003. Undaunted when it didn’t show up, they just moved it out to 2012 to coincide with the end of the Mayan calendar.
Galactic Alignment – There is no galactic alignment occurring in 2012. It takes 36 years to precess through galactic equator, and we will be 6 degrees off in 2012. Even if we did have an alignment, it would have no effect on us. The vast distances involved outweigh the effects of gravity.
Asteroid Apophis – the 2001 alert was for 2029, and was canceled after additional observations showed it would not hit us.
Polar Shift – the magnetic poles are moving all the time. Polar reversals have occurred in the past, but we can’t predict when they will occur again.
Passage through a “photon belt” has been added. This is also untrue and wouldn’t hurt us if it were. Photons are merely units of light.
Solar flares happen all the time and we have more of them at some times than others. They haven’t caused any serious problems in the past. The direct effects of solar flares are mainly related to communications and radio transmissions. We had a major series of solar flares in 2005.

I have just learnt the answer from my question which was very simliar. This is supposedly the day that the planet Nibiru would crash into Earth and cause Mega Earthquakes and Tsunamis, but it’s a hoax. Thank goodness!

A calendar is a calendar. You dont expect the world to end after December 21st, do you? A calendar marks our year, how long it takes to get around the sun. Mayan Calendar isnt predicting the end of the world, its predicting the end of a greater gallactic cycle. What that means for us is yet to be understood. It could merely be that the Mayan cycle refers to the sun completing an orbit around something else, at the end of which might be some form of solar alignment. End of the wold my hairy arse
