Critically examining the "End of the World"
Do you really think the world will end in 2012?
The following is a question being asked on Yahoo Answers. Both the questions and answers given do not reflect the view of our website.
Question:
Some people say the world will end on December 12, 2012 (12/12/12). I really think it’s nonsense because I heard the same thing was thought in 2000 and we’re still here. Do you think the world will end in 2012? And where did both of these rumors (the world ending in 2000 and the world ending in 2012) even start?

Since the beginning of life there have been prophecies of the end of life.
And guess what? We’re still here.

There’s your answer.

Nah, I think it’s a bunch of bull.
My reason?
Well, the Mayans had this guy make a giant Calender. One guy. No one else, just him, everyday writing the next date in the calender.
We discover the caldener and noticed that it had just stopped.
I don’t think it stopped because that’s when the world’s going to end.
I think it just stopped because the man with the sole responsibility of making the calender probably DIED. He had to go sometime, and no one else was appointed the task to finish the calender.
So, no, I highly doubt the world is going to end in 2012.

Actually, it’s 12/21/12, but it’s nonsense, yeah.

To tell you the truth, if it does end, I don’t care anymore, as long as I don’t feel a thing I’ll be fine….
But no, I don’t. =]

The 2012 thing has to do with the Mayan calendar. The Mayan calendar ends at 2012. It doesn’t say the world ends that’s just have far they had it projected forward. Some people have taken that to mean that the world will end in 2012.

It’s bull because if it was true the whole frickin world would be in panic where people would kill each other in panic and to fight other for what’s left. People are gonna be like since I’m dieing lets enjoy our selves which could lead to Drugs, violence and etc. Is it happening? No it isn’t

The 2012 date comes from the Mayan calendar. The History Channel brought it to everyone’s attention not too long ago.
The world will never end. The age we live in will come to an end. If you ever read any history you will see ages run in cycles. The next one will be full of wars, disasters, plagues and probably an asteroid hit. See:

Unless you follow the ancient Mayan calandar and believe Aztec prophecies, you shouldn’t be concerned.

Actually the date given is 12/21/2012 which is the end date of the Mayan calendar. People have predicted the end of the world since the beginning of recorded history. The date is as good as all the ones in the past except this one has the possibility of being right until 12/22/2012. Then it goes into the same class as the rest of the doom sayers. See webaddress below for more information….

No, I believe in Armageddon. I believe Armageddon will happen seven years after the Global Government forms from the Anti-Christ. I also believe that all those who follow the Global Government will be unable to receive God’s forgiveness from their sin. For more information check out my sources.

It comes from people having nothing better to do.
In the year 99 B.C everyone supposedly thought the earth would end at the year 100.
In the year 999 everyone allegedly thought the would would end on the year 1000
in the year 1999 everyone DID think the would would end in 2000 but look we are still here.
Now any smart person is not scared of the year 2012, but if they are they are not smart, basically, the end of the world is a game created to scare everyone into religion to pray to God to save them and slowly take over everyones mind.

Might be one way of getting the british out of hosting the olympics, either way it’s gonna feel like the world has ended when they host it, because it’s bound to be a cock up.
I am british btw.

Basically, a nutter named Jose Arguelles (the one that thinks he is a reincarnated Spanish Priest from the 15th century… AND the one that tried to sue the UN… yeah, him) wrote about how the Mayan calendar “ended” in 2012 and how we were all gonna die! Well, all the rest of the Mayan scholars disagreed but here we are… proving that people will believe almost anything!
You gotta believe real hard to think 2012 is anything but just a year.
Shut your eyes and clap for Tinkerbell… i mean Jose.
