Critically examining the "End of the World"
Is it true the world is going to end in 2012?

Question Details: the mayas predict this,and all the predictions they have said were going to como true eventually happen.I dont but I think the world ends when a person dies,because basicly your life is over so the world is over for you or that person that die..anyways who has any prove of what the mayas said ?

The Maya also said that the world went through “stages” and ended several times, with humans being made of a different element each stage.

Basically by 2012 the cheap oil will have run out and oil prices will rocket. So…there will be arguments with countries like USA and UK with oil producing countries…this will end up in nuclear war and so the world will end……or so says some people!
I know it sounds crazy, but that is the theory that i heard!

And as far as cheep oil goes, that ran out 20 years ago… and the oil fields we are looking for now, like those in the artic circle, have such a high sulfer content they will also be sent overseas… We can grow Algae using solar and wind power to make alcohol and bio-diesel fuels now. I do however believe you are correct, someone will start yet another shooting war over oil again…

people are always searching “the end of the word” they predicted that is was gonna happen in 2000 and now in 2012, so i don’t know why humanity is finding their own end, oil is not gonna run out at least in 50 years and there is no way that a war will destroy earth in 4 years, there are still no proofs and just mayas prediction is no gonna change anything just because some predictions “looked” that they happened

What exactly do you mean by the world ‘ending’? I mean, will the world just vanish, or explode, or implode, or melt, or disintegrate, or what?
Frankly, the world could end tomorrow, and why should we care? We can’t do anything about it, so relax!

I just watched this program on the History channel and it was about Nostradamus’ predictions. They said that they had found this new book of pictures (possibly done by his son) That also predicted the end of the world in 2012. They talked about this wheel in the sky. Which is actually a diagram of how the milky way,Sun, Earth’s path, and wobble of the Earth’s axis will all line up in this wheel pattern on Dec. 2012. This program also mentioned the Mayan’s long count calendar ending in the same year. The drawings also had predictions about the burning of the twin towers. and an eagle in distress.
It was very eye opening. I have been motivated to check out Revelation and see what is said in the Bible. I do know Christ is supposed to come before the end. My education is very lacking in this area. It makes me worried for my children ,one of which will graduate in 2012. I feel as though I am running out of time to lead them and others in the way of Christ. I can only pray for their salvation and hope I have done all that I can to bring them to the way of the Lord.
That said ,It is my prayer that these “doomsday” messages help people look for answers in the right place(Christ) and turn towards God and not away.

No. It is nonsense.
I will buy armageddon scenario if NASA detects an asteroid’s trajectory on collision to earth, if CDC detects unstoppable pandemic viral disease that will kill all humans, or things like that. But I will not buy baseless prophecies from religions, cults, or ancient civilizations. No merits on those whatsoever.
And in 2013 those who predicted that 2012 end of world scenario will recalibrate the prediction to a different year in the future. Wanna bet?

Revelation and Christianity says that we do not know when the end of the world will come, so Biblically it will not be 2012.

All of the indigenous cultures around the globe have an end time prophecy that ends in December 2012. Recently I saw a program on Discovery, or some channel like that, where the ancient Jewish calendar only dates to December 2012. We’ve only got 3.5 years left. Think about it.
