If you don’t believe in God then I guess you’re not aware God has plans for you. When you die he will send your soul to hell, and later he’ll roast it and eat it.

Basically, the whole 2012 thing is bogus. People are out to make money on it.
The following is part (toward the bottom) of the wikipedia article on the Mayan Calendar: “The Mesoamerican Long Count calendar forms the basis for a New Age belief, first forecast by José Argüelles, that a cataclysm will take place on or about December 21, 2012, a forecast that mainstream Mayanist scholars consider a misinterpretation, yet is commonly referenced in pop-culture media as the 2012 problem.
For example, Sandra Noble, executive director of the Mesoamerican research organization FAMSI, notes that “[f]or the ancient Maya, it was a huge celebration to make it to the end of a whole cycle”. However, she considers the portrayal of December 2012 as a doomsday or cosmic-shift event to be “a complete fabrication and a chance for a lot of people to cash in.”* (See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maya_calendar for the full details.)
It should be obvious by now, that the whole thing has produced another quasi-documentary that does nothing except make the producers some spending money.
*As quoted in USA Today (MacDonald 2007).

So sad that NASA posted this, but here: http://www.nasa.gov/topics/earth/features/2012.html

I don’t believe it is, but according to most people who believe it is, we won’t know again until 2012, since supposedly its orbit path makes it currently blocked by the Sun -_-.

It’s simple, the Mayans couldn’t forecast our star dates as far as 2012. They interpreted the simple change to the age of aquarius, as a sign of doom.
The Mayans couldn’t even predict their own demise, let alone the planets.

This nonsense has nothing to do with God. In fact it has nothing to do with anything real.

If it were real, they would be able to tell us where to point the telescopes to see it. There are some very decent private ones that can do multiple night exposures that could image anything like that.

Omg there are videos of nibiru coming closer to earth on youtube!!!
But of course that’s just tiny lens flare added later in final cut pro.

Nothing will happen. That is the logical prediction.

Invaders from Mars will attack our earth on Dec 21, 2012 and destroy us because we believe in fake-ass imagery cloud which people called “God”.
Accord to Bible.

The long count that is in use in the calendar come to an end on 12/21/2012 is all. After that date the calendar can no longer be used.
fyi: Every freaking time a 2012 question gets ask a puppy dies so please for the sake of the puppies STOP ASKING THESE QUESTIONS!!!!!!!!

The Mayan calendar doesn’t “end” in 2012 any more than our calendar “ends” in December. We and the Mayans just go back to the beginning and start counting time all over again.

all fake
The niburu thing was invented by a woman who claims she is in contact with aliens from the zeta reticuli system
google her website zetatalk
she will save you if you pay her
the myans said nothing about niburu, their calander resets and starts again in 2012, my calander resets aand starts again every year and nothing bad ever happened because of it
as for the whole pole shift rubbish, i dunno where that came from but i can guess it was som other nutjob who has never studied qhysics or astronomy.
want something to be scared of??
google “apophis asteroid” and prepare for 2036
that is the only possible threat to earth in the forseeable future, and its not even a major threat

If the Mayans were so advanced, they would still be around.

The whole Mayan prophecy is no more likely to happen than Norse Ragnarok or the Christian Armageddon.

Many people believe this hoax, unfortunately, many of them young, such as my son’s 14 year old friends. And the fear is spread via the media giving it credibility by discussing it as a real possibility. Shame on them!
Look at the long term investments of those who are making the movies, etc. If they thought the world would end in just over 3 years, they would not be investing as they are? You are seeing this in movies, on TV, and elsewhere because IT SELLS!
Our calendar dates are arbitrary. Other cultures in the world use other dates entirely. There is an International Date Line so when it is December 21, 2012 in one part of the world, it is a different date in another part.
The Mayans did not know more than other humans who lived before them or who lived after them. They were human, nothing more.
The idea that the end of this cycle of the Mayan calendar means the world will end is only one interpretation of the end of the cycle. Others believe it means other things, not all of them bad by any means. Some think it means nothing to us but only meant something to the Mayans.
The world ends every day for many people, sometimes in horrific ways, sometimes in peaceful ways, sometimes somewhere in between. We will be no more or less dead if we die alone than if we all die at the same time. Few know exactly when they will die and no one knows exactly when human life on earth will end. Dwell on life, not on death.
Humans have been fascinated by “the end of the world” for thousands of years. They have been predicting approximate dates, exact dates, and changing dates since long before the Common Era (when Christ was supposedly born). None of them have been right. Why should this one in a long line of failed predictions be right? There are even dates predicted for the end of the world AFTER 2012. How can it end after it has already ended? Unless none of the supposed prophets knows what they are talking about.
Take a look at a long list of former predicted dates and the growing list of future dates here:

Live your life as if it will go on. It will. It always does go on for everyone until it doesn’t anymore. And no one knows when that will be.

There is tons of data & ideas you can get, i personally don’t think its the end, i think its a begging to a new era, maybe you would like to research the ecological shifts on earth, the melting of the polls and how the sun is rapidly increasing its heat waves sent to earth, which is melting both pols, which is cousin the earth crust to move, all data supported i just don’t have the links on me.
hmmm what else, there is the Nostradamus predictions, also there is other religions and groups that foretold the up coming event, one Chinese culture, sorry dude i did all these research a while ago, so right now am trying to connect with god in a better level
my god help you.
peace.

A little gold nugget from the wikipedia page on nibiru:
“Planetary scientists are being driven to distraction by Nibiru,” notes science writer Govert Schilling, “And it is not surprising; you devote so much time, energy and creativity to fascinating scientific research, and find yourself on the tracks of the most amazing and interesting things, and all the public at large is concerned about is some crackpot theory about clay tablets, god-astronauts and a planet that doesn’t exist.”[36] Morrison states that he hopes that the non-arrival of Nibiru could serve as a teaching moment for the public, instructing them on ‘rational thought and baloney detection’, but doubts that will happen.
This is such a load of baloney.
The Mayans used an unusually long cycle for their calendars because they used a strange numbering system – base 5 (not 10). Their current long cycle ends on Dec. 21, 2012. Now, there is a simple reason for Dec. 21st. They were using a seasonal calendar and knew about things like equinoxes and solstices. Dec. 21st, 2012 is the winter solstice for that year. It is also the last day of the year for the Mayans, because the next day would be the start of a new year.
OK, when they compute this long-cycle calendars, it takes a while. But they were able to compute them pretty well. Why, then, did they not compute the next cycle? Because the Spanish Conquistadores came sweeping through their lands and killed off their heathen priests – in the name of advancing Christianity, of course! So the Mayans who survived weren’t the priests and didn’t know how to compute the next cycle.
Planet Nibiru is such a farce as well. If there were such a planet, we would know it by its gravity effects.
Polar shift? Yeah, they happen. Totally without warning and totally not predictable because they are subject to chaos theory. Saying that we are due for a polar shift (or a super-volcano eruption) is like throwing a dart at a wall full of calendars. Except that the wall has to be big enough to hold all the calendars for 100,000 years because that is the uncertainty level of any computation.
In the final analysis, the 2012 stuff is HYPE. Did you see the movie ads? They fanned the flames. But the truth is, some sicko is ALWAYS predicting the end of the world. It is a mental illness in which someone predicts terrible things as a way of attracting attention. The folks who make these predictions are crying out for the attention that their mommies or daddies didn’t give them as children.
Do I know something you don’t? Apparently. I know to not listen to the “end is nigh” nutcases.

Why aren’t people worried about The Day After Tomorrow and War of the Worlds being real too?
Many months ago, some guy wrote down some stuff that caused an awesome movie to be made.
The same thing happened for 2012, just replace ‘months’ with ‘years’
