The Mayas did not predict anything. It is just the end of the Mayan calendar! And at the end of the Mayan calendar (December 21, 2012) there would be a great celebration. No apocalypse, just a big party.

Scientifically it is possible as explained on various documentaries, television shows and Internet web sites. A web site that combines them all together is the "Styles of Conscience." Here is a link to the website:

http://rlowe1980.blogspot.com/2007/07/december-12-2012-extinction-of-humanity.html

Religiously, God is the only one that knows when the individual person will pass away. However do not be confused. There is no mention about mankind as a whole. This is only in reference to the individual person or immediate group.

12/21/2012 The Mayan Long Count (Calendar): The first day of the Long Count is labeled 0.0.0.0.1, which is equivalent to August 11th, 3114 B.C. based on our current Gregorian Calendar (a.k.a. the date the pure breed of mankind left the garden). The Long Count calendar ends at 12.19.19.17.20, which is the equivalent to December 21, 2012. However 12.19.19.17.20 technically does not exists, as the last date never occurs so the last date would be 12.19.19.17.19 - 12/20/2012. The date 12/21/2012 is 13.0.0.0.0 in the long count and has been open to debate.

13.0.0.0.0 also signified the appearance of the hidden 13th Zodiac Astrological Constellations as follows:

01: Pisces the Fishes 12 Mar to 18 Apr Equinoctial Venus [Feminine Aspect]
02: Aries the Ram 19 Apr to 13 May Solid Mercury [Masculine Aspect]
03: Taurus the Bull 14 May to 19 Jun Bicorporeal Moon [Feminine Aspect]
04: Gemini the Twins 20 Jun to 20 Jul Solsticial Sun [Masculine Aspect]
05: Cancer the Crab 21 Jul to 9 Aug Solid Mercury [Feminine Aspect]
06: Leo the Lion 10 Aug to 15 Sep Bicorporeal Venus [Masculine Aspect]
07: Virgo the Maiden 16 Sep to 30 Oct Equinoctial Mars [Feminine Aspect]
08: Libra the Scales 31 Oct to 22 Nov Solid Jupiter [Masculine Aspect]
09: Scorpius the Scorpion 23 Nov to 29 Nov Bicorporeal Saturn [Feminine Aspect]
***10: Ophiuchus the Serpent Bearer 30 Nov to 17 Dec Bicorporeal*** Saturn [Feminine Aspect]
11 Sagittarius the Archer 18 Dec to 18 Jan Solsticial Saturn [Masculine Aspect]
12: Capricornus the Sea Goat 19 Jan to 15 Feb Solid Jupiter [Feminine Aspect]
13: Aquarius the Water Carrier 16 Feb to 11 Mar Bicorporeal Mars [Masculine Aspect]

I hope this helps.

Best Regards,
M.G.S.

it was though that the poles will shift very rapidly around the world, and their will be earthquakes, tsunamis, volcano's erupting, and alot of other terrible stuff. but i mean i am almost definitely positive something with happen in 2012 because many Prophets have predicted it, and so have many religions. if u have any other questions please ask!!!

                                  thank you!!

I've actually heard on a show on National Geographic or the History Channel that their belief in astrology and numerology told them their calender would end then, and they thought that meant the end of the world. Actually, slowly, the poles are losing their magnetically and the poles will switch sides in 2012, December 21st to be precise. Just like a solar or lunar eclipse, it builds up to its climax. Scientists also believe that the economic boom from the new age computers and electronics will dramatically slow down then too.
But to answer the question, I honestly don't know what they believe would happen when their calender ended.

I'm not saying these things like i KNOW them, just from what i think i remember.

Good point.

Ever since the 6/6/6 (June 6, 2006) End of the World scenario did not pan out, the scare mongers have been touting the 2012 End of the World scenario. When 2012 does not happen either, I am sure they will think of something else.

"But of that day or hour, no one knows, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be watchful! Be alert! You do not know when the time will come." (Mark 13:32-33)

Jesus told us in no uncertain terms that we were not to know when the end of the world would come but that we were always to be ready.

The early Christian Church thought that Jesus was going to return at any moment. Only after a couple of centuries did the Church realize that it may be 2,000 or 4,000 or 8,000 years before Jesus returns.

The Catholic Church wisely follows Jesus' advice and teaches that each of us should live as if we will meet our maker in the next ten minutes and that we need to work to make the world a better place for our 100 X great-grandchildren.

Do not worry about the end of the world. Trust God to make sure everything happens to plan. Just be ready to meet God at any time.

For more information, about what Catholics believe about the end of the world, see: http://www.americancatholic.org/Newsletters/CU/ac0993.asp

With love in Christ.

The end of the world. Just like Atlantis with all the natural catastrophe's. They believe we will be punished that day and they will kill us off. Earthquakes, volcanoes, hurricanes, tornadoes, etc. Everything bad that could possibly happen will happen.

You are wrong here, due to following bad information. The Mayan calendar had many cycles, starting with one of 260 days. Then, there were long cycles when some of the short ones coincided. No one knows when any cycles ended-will end, since the Mayans are not here to explain their calendar. Someone guessed that a long cycle ends 12/21/12, but there is no way to really arrive at such a precise date from guessing. The longest cycle may have ended centuries ago, or it may end centuries from now. What is your source of information here? I asked once on YA who started this nonsense. No one knew. Several people only mindlessly repeated the nonsense I have heard 10,001 times, so I withdrew the question. As far as I can tell, the Mayan cycles were much like ours. AD 2000 ended a decade, a century and a millennium. There were dumb predictions about it. There were also dumb predictions about AD 1000 and many more dates. I bet anyone who asks about this absurd "kuso" $1000 that 12/21/12 is not doomsday. No one on YA has accepted my bet. The only ones who have are drunkards who lose on ball games.
