I have this book and quoted something out of it with source so how could they know this and does it mean anything really science related – i don’t give a crap about the whole 2012 thing thinking something is going to happen but this part intrigued me..

In September 2002, astronomers verified the existence of a massive black hole at the center of the Milky Way, naming “Sagittarius B.” Jenkins writes:
Something very profound and mysterious is going on here. Is it just a coincidence that lurking deep within the dark-rift “black hole” is the very real Black Hole at the center of our Galaxy? If not a coincidence, the dark-rift itself might indeed be the surface signifier of deeper cosmic mysteries, ones that the Maya were well aware of.
So how could the maya be aware of this. and what else can you tell me about this anyone -

There are likely super-massive black holes at the center of every galaxy so I don’t see the significance of this.
should this be common knowledge to the maya knowing about a massive black hole

I got curious. Why every1 says it’s over in 2012. So I found a few things of interest. The one thing that really intrigues me though is this 5000 year count of the Maya–because these 5000 year cycles showed up in so many reports—with no adequate explanation. The ocean tidal forcing is somwhere around 1800 years, the sun’s cycle around 11 years, our polar shift cycle around 400.000 years(we are overdue)–so what are these 5000 years everyone talks about in these reports. Maybe I overlooked it, but I’d like to understand what this 5000 year cylce refers to.
The way I understand all this is that we are headed toward a pole shift right at the same time when the tidal force cycle starts and when the new solar climax cycle starts—so that really sounds like disaster, but NASA thinks that it’ll happen 2010/2011. So what’s the 5000 year cycle referring to????Thanks

These are just a few of the sites I went to—I just cannot find any understandable explanation of the 5000 year cycle–because one thing is for sure: the Maya knew something we don’t know yet….
