Year 2012: End of the World

I was wondering if there was any relationship between the astronomical alignment due to happen during the winter solstice of 2012 (Sun, Galactic Equator, Earth) and perhaps a polar shift. Do any of these have anything to do with the change in the North Star and/or the processional equinox from Pisces to Aquarius? Do one or any of these happen to effect the other?

I am in no way for or against the concepts(if that makes sense) about the “end of the world: 2012″ theory; im simply too lazy to put effort into proving or disproving it to myself. Sometimes i research the aspects when im bored and today i got into the galactic alignment stuff. I thought it would be interesting if we, as human beings, organized a mission that would send a spacecraft to this so called alignment. Anyone else think this would be an easy and simple way to prove the existence of a “galactic plane”. Maybe nothing will happen due to false propaganda or the inability for the field to disturb the comparatively small size of the craft… idk, but i think its an interesting thought nontheless.

Anyone wanna respond to my thoughts please do!
well im just talking about sending a space craft in the direction of this said plane with a bunch of equipment that could tell us stuff :p

Ok, this 2012 business is really getting to me. Now, worst of all, my family is converting to the 2012 side. Just a few minutes ago, I came up from watching a marathon on Nostradamus and his predictions. Some were semi-accurate (hister, however, was about it) to What the- off (Yeah, stereotype a bear for communism. Oh yeah. Pay no attention to the fact that bears were unheard of in the first place at Nostradamus’s time! Remember the Behemoth?).

Anyways, back to topic, one of the points the “special” brought up was galactic alignment. I realize this will never happen by 2012, since there is no way for a straight line from the plane of orbit of the earth through the sun to the milky way center. However, I got curious: How far are Earth and the sun from aligning with the galactic center?

What is this all about? The history channel keeps having these shows on and they keep talking about some kind of Galactic alignment in 2012 I guess, I have seen them talking about this on a bunch of shows and all or most of them are about some 2012 theory, like earlier it had something to do with Nastrodamus in 2012, but is there going to be one or is this just some bogus crap they are trying to get us to believe in, if so what would it mean for us?
I don’t believe it. I just wanted to know what Galactic ALignment they are talkin about. All this other shit I think is nonsence. I would believe that the Galactic Alignment they are talking about may be something they made up, but I am checking to see if anybody here knows if there really is a galactic alignment.
ok Cameron, I don’t believe we will have to worry about that for a long time, especially since you would be able to see Andromeda if this was going to occur in our life time, besides that If the 2 galaxy ever do collide they will just splice together and form one big galaxy, but things will be out of wack for a while. Andromeda has already collided with a galaxy in the past and they just combined to become a bigger galaxy.
Wow, I don’t remember asking about a mayan calander. that wasn’t my question. I asked about a Galactic Alignment. Maybe read the question. I know all about that Calander and it doesn’t mean nothin to me, unless they had scientific proof. The way I see it, it just ends on that day because they had no use to go any further and the calender couldn’t go on forever.
