A few years from now, how much do you think people will make of this whole 2012/Mayan Calendar thing?

The following is a question being asked on Yahoo Answers. Both the questions and answers given do not reflect the view of our website.
Question:
First off, I am not a believer in all this stuff about the world ending in the year 2012. But I am very intrigued and fascinated by all the prophecies for that year, as well as the supposed fact that the Mayan calendat ends on December 21, 2012. This whole thing is being talked about more and more on the internet, and its even getting some air time in the mainstream media.

Here’s a link to a site that details some of the hype over 2012:

http://www.december212012.com/

You can also go to Wikipedia where they have a good article on it. Just type in “2012″

So my question is… how much do you think people will make of this when we actually get to 2012? Will there be mass riots? People giving away all their possessions? Building bomb shelters and all that?

I actually think there could be a fair bit of panic. But I guess we’ll just have to wait a few years and see.

What does the bible say about lizard people?

The following is a question being asked on Yahoo Answers. Both the questions and answers given do not reflect the view of our website.

Question:
I know that the bible talks about nephilim in genesis, but I’ve heard some 2012 stories about stuff like annunaki, nibiru, lizard people, and I was wondering what the bible says about these lizard people because I saw this documentary on the sumarians and how these god like people came down and told them about all this stuff, and in one of their like drawing tablet things it shows giants and an extra planet, even before people knew about planets, and that these gods created the universe and made us as slaves to them and that lizard men are among us in underground dwellings and in the bible it talks about nephilim, and some people believe it was Seth’s family line mixed with woman, and some believe it’s demons or aliens that intermingled and formed these “lizard people.”

People with knowledge of the mayan calender and alleged upcoming Apocalypse. Please help me.?

The following is a question being asked on Yahoo Answers. Both the questions and answers given do not reflect the view of our website.

Question:
I watched a program on the Discovery Channel concerning an Apocalypse occurring in 2012. It’s true that the end of the world has been predicted many times by various people. I know all of this. But the thought of the world ending in some way in the near future has began to consume me so that it has had a negative effect on my day to day life and performance in school. I usually dismiss things like this as rubbish but i haven’t been able to shake it. I do not know much about the mayan ca lander or what it has predicted in the past and in the present. So what things has the Mayan calender predicted? Natural disasters? How many of them have occurred? And does it say specifically that the world will end in 2012 or is it just the last recorded date? Someone presented me with the information that the same people/person who predicted the fall of the Roman empire also predicted 2012 as the end of the world, as did the egyptians. Did they say this because the Mayan calender predicted it (if it actually did).

As you can see I’ve got alot of questions. I need some assurance that everything is going to be fine and that i’ve got nothing to worry over. I’m not religious so i don’t want to be assured that it’s not going to happen because it contradicts information provided by the bible.

How do you think people will act in 2012?

The following is a question being asked on Yahoo Answers. Both the questions and answers given do not reflect the view of our website.

Question:
Personally, I don’t believe the apocalyptic theories about 12/21/12.
Do you think as the supposed “doomsday” approaches, there will be more chaos and violence in the streets?
I would think that people who do believe in it will just start going chaotic and doing whatever they can to make the best of what they believe are their last hours, or causing havoc just because they can.
What do you think?

Why do most people dismiss 2012, yet embrace religion?

The following is a question being asked on Yahoo Answers. Both the questions and answers given do not reflect the view of our website.

Question:
Here’s the rub. Most people are dismissing 2012 extinction/changing of humanity with overwhelming evidence to support it (Incas, Mayans, Nostradamus, Egyptians and Indians).

However, most Christians, Muslims, religious people period say this is a farce, yet devoutedly believe in their own relgions, written by noone knows and followed by blind faith and no proof.

Why?
