Year 2012: End of the World

I was wondering if there was any relationship between the astronomical alignment due to happen during the winter solstice of 2012 (Sun, Galactic Equator, Earth) and perhaps a polar shift. Do any of these have anything to do with the change in the North Star and/or the processional equinox from Pisces to Aquarius? Do one or any of these happen to effect the other?

ive heard that we are due for another polar shift and/or flip in 2012 im in the 12th grade and doing my senior project on the mayan culture and it got me interested i also seen where people and such say we will have a planetary alignment and a eclipse on this day what all is suppose to happen and what are the details,possibilities, and FACTS about this such significant day

polar shift is possible its happened before in our earths life time they have proven it that the waters have switched.

Did everything (e.g, mentioning of the polar plates shifting) start off because of 2012, or had this been said anyway and people just linked the events to the Mayan calander?

This is not a debate as whether they are true or not.
Maybe I didn’t explain the question clearly.

The Mayan calendar ends/repeats in 2012 but some people believe it is indicating world end.

Apparently some Scientists talk of polar plates shifting.

Even if the calendar never existed, would there still be mentioning of this?
