Year 2012: End of the World

Question:
Do you think that the Government is behind all the “information” about 2012? I think its funny how all of a sudden there is all these websites and tv shows and now a movie about the world ending. Remember 1999 and the second coming of Christ? Who said he is on Eastern Standard time anyway?!
This is just a question, I didn’t say i believed in it. I thought it would be interesting to see responces.
I think the government constatly wants us to feel scared as if we need them, that’s all. So, please don’t think i asked this bc I believe it, just wanted to see the answers I recieved.

i mean like couldn’t the guy who was writing the calendar die and couldn’t finish the calendar or that something happened that they couldn’t finish the calendar. im having doubts about that god would want to destroy the world with still many believers of him (including me) and innocent children and people who have dedicated their whole lives to him.
