From what I gather our solar system is going to line up with the center of the Milky Way, where there’s something called “The Dark Rift.” Supposedly it’s some kind of radio-active black hole, or something of the sort, we cross over every 6000 years or so.

I know its because of predictions from the Mayan calender but has anything on the mayan calender actually happened? Why did the Mayans think the world would end on that particular day.
I dont really believe that this is true but im still really curious about it so could someone explain this a bit more in detail

Another History Channel program titled “Decoding the Past: Doomsday 2012: End of Days” says a galactic alignment or magnetic disturbances could somehow trigger a “pole shift.”
“The entire mantle of the earth would shift in a matter of days, perhaps hours, changing the position of the north and south poles, causing worldwide disaster,” a narrator proclaims. “Earthquakes would rock every continent, massive tsunamis would inundate coastal cities. It would be the planetary catastrophe.
Apolinario Chile Pixtun, who is apart of a Mayan tribe located near Mexico City, is tired of being bombarded with frantic questions about the Mayan calendar supposedly “running out” on Dec. 21, 2012. After all, he says it is NOT going to be the end of the world.
He states that there will be either a lunar or a solar eclipse and that there will be astrological changes, but NOT the end of the world. Mayan elders even say they are tired of the Western hype, and are tired of their lies.
What do you think is going to happen in result of the eclipse on or around December of 21st of 2012? I mean the Mayan elders have stated that it is FACT that this date is a significant time period for the Maya tribes that does end on the date, and that the Mayan tribes have found a series of astronomical alignments they say coincide in 2012, including one that happens roughly only once every 25,800 years. But they did NOT say the end of the world is going to happen.
What do experts and everyone else on Yahoo Answers believe is going to happen on this date? Thanks for your answers. I have done research on this topic for several years.

do you think it has something to do with the end of the world? i mean in the bible it said that we would have one currency and one leader. they are already talking about the new world order. i was also thinking about how the mayan’s predicted 2012 and albert einstein predicted a polar shift in 2012 and they are talking about the new world order meaning it might come in 2012.
oh yeah and it said in the bible that no one will predict the day and the hour, but what about the year?
