Year 2012: End of the World

Someone please tell me that the world won’t end in 2012 and that Obama really isn’t the Anti-Christ, because I’m scared out of my mind back here from reading all this stuff about it. Please just put my mind at ease and don’t scare me even further.
I am not a racist at all, in any sense of the word, and I’m asking for Christians because I myself am a born-again Christian (kind of?) so I would like to talk to someone who knows about the Bible and doesn’t think that God and Jesus are fake. If there are any ordinary scholars out there, then feel free to answer! It wasn’t my intent to offend anyone

there are a lot of theories, one of which is that the mayan calendar predicts that date as the end of time. the mayans had a more accurate calendar than we use today, and knew a lot about our earth’s history even before modern man did.

that date is winter solstice, which is when the sun will be at the intersection of the milky way and the galactic equator, which some scientists believe will affect our gravity causing a pole shift where the poles move from north to south (invert) in 72 hours. this has happened before and is documented as scientists have proven the once-north pole is now located somewhere above wisconsin and its corresponding south pole in the center of the pacific. that is why they chisel out mammoths (tropical beasts) in the ice caves of siberia and believe antarctica once held life.

I’ve done so much research already on Dec 21, 2012 and the Mayan calender but its so confusing. Words like ‘Dark Rift’, ‘Zenial Passages’ and ‘Precession of the Equinoxes’ and such are very confusing.
I’m taking Astronomy courses but that has yet to help me understand what I’ve been reading on the internet. (I’m doing a speech in Public Speaking about ‘Doomsday: 2012′, by the way.)
Things I’m wanting to say in the speech is like the 25, 950 cycle that’s to end in a few years, etc.
So if anyone knows a lot about the above subjects and can explain it to me in lamen terms, thank you so much.

Meet GJ 1214b, the most Earth-like planet ever found outside our solar system. Its not exactly Earths twin: Its about six times bigger, a whole lot hotter and made mostly of water. But compared to the giant gas balls that account for nearly every other extrasolar planet ever found, its pretty darn close. And through a fortunate happenstance of cosmic geometry, astronomers will be able to study GJ 1214b in great detail. If you want to describe in one sentence what this planet is, its a big, hot ocean, said Harvard University astronomer David Charbonneau. We can even study its atmosphere. This planet will occupy us for years. Thats part of whats so exciting about it. Described by Charbonneau and 17 other astronomers in a paper published Wednesday in Nature, GJ 1214b is the latest of roughly 400 planets detected by earthly telescopes. Of these, 28 are considered super-Earths — planets with a mass roughly comparable to our own. The super-Earths themselves are too distant to be seen. Instead, astronomers infer their presence from subtle distortions in starlight, caused when photons travel through the super-Earths gravitational fields. Depending on the degree of distortion, astronomers can even calculate a planets mass. Thats how Corot-7b, a rocky planet with roughly twice the heft of Earth, was spotted in February.
