Question:
we all known the Mayan calendar ends 12-21-12 but why does it end and did the Mayan actual said that that was the end of the world or did the calendar just ended could it be a begging of something new.
and if it does end then the Mayan people were right they even predicted thousands of years a head when the lunar and solar etc… eclipse will happen so they may be right about this too.
Erm… they couldn’t be bovered writing any more?

The Mayan calendar ends the year that OUR calendar identifies as 2012.
Mayans don’t actually think the world is going to end in 2012. Apparently they view it as the beginning of a new era.

I have a hard time putting faith in a theory created by a people that never grapsed the idea of the wheel.
The mayan calendar is very accurate, but it does not say the world ends. It says that this section of time is ending, just like when you go from 1:59 to 2:00. The minutes go from 59 to 0, and the hour changes, but time does not stop.
The mayan calendar predicts things after 2012, so clearly they do not believe the world will end.
Look, the Mayans didn’t predict their own downfall. How could they predict something thousands of years into their future and not predict something only hundreds of years away?

well yeah the myan calender does end in 2012 but they did predict it was going to be the end of the world, they just predicted “the start of a new beeginig” and so said one of thes “new begginigs” were supposed to happen once every coupl thousand years and do we have history of anything like that happening? No. So therefore it is just another myan myth that never eally happened, but you have to give them props for being very smart!

If the Maya could predict the end of the entire world, then why did they not predict a much smaller event,the end of their own civilization?
It is just the end of a calendar cycle, a chain of astronomical events.
We all know? We use the Gregorian calendar which is based on the supposed Incarnation of Christ. The Mayans used a totally different measure and thus could not have stated 12-21-12 as being the end of the world.

I am only guessing on the end of their calendar now, as I have not heard of it before. But, perhaps their calendar ended because they were virtually wiped off the face of the Earth by Europeans?
Directly linking their calendar scale to ours without translation is equivalent to linking a mathematical equation written in our Base 10 math to a Base 4 math.
I just think people’s to worry about it… i think the comet wil (maybe) hit russia in the middle (75 degrees on the world map) and 17% of the comet wil hit the watter. but of course it wil split up in parts and that parts will hit Mongolia, china and Kazakhstan possibly also finland hitting Finland will be 12% and less than 8 pieces of max 12 inch. big.
and cia. 15-30 % of the worlds people will die. But it isn’t’ even sure it’s going to hit.

Your falling for the big lie. No fault to you people who consider yourselves quasi-experts, because they are very good at deception. The Mayan Calender is only suspected to be a celestial calender. But dont get me wrong, I believe they are correct. I also believe their ‘claim’ that it is periodical and numerative measure of time. What you do not realize is that no credible expert supports the fixing of our calender to it. The experts have theorized a period of time that fits the calender but it is not the only one; it is simply the most probable. Crack pots showed up after the fact and assigned the start and end dates to accomadate the publicity they where seeking.
