Critically examining the "End of the World"
this is a copy of an answer to someone elses question…?
The following is a question being asked on Yahoo Answers. Both the questions and answers given do not reflect the view of our website.
Question:
Is the world really going to end in 2012?
The Answer is “NO”
we will only witness the Galactic Alignment of Our Planets
and Our Sun will going to enter the Black hole (Center of Galaxy)
to regain energy and reborn as a new star.
The event will trigger the next level of Human Evolutions.
It’s not the End of the World but it’s the Beginning of the New Age.
now my question is, if the sun is going into the black hole isnt it supposed to be gone forever? Because supposebly what goes into the black hole never comes back out right??

There is no galactic alignment. Even if there were, alignments don’t do anything. The sun isn’t going into a black hole. It’s not going anywhere near a black hole. The black hole at the center of the galaxy is 30,000 light-years away. 2012 is utter crap.

Yeah your right
The answer you copied is completely WRONG….
1st – our Sun will never turn into a black hole because it’s not big enough.
2nd – Anything (even light) that goes into a black hole isn’t coming out….the escape velocity is WAY WAY to high.

The answer you quoted is just New Age silliness from someone whose concept of the universe is based on bad science fiction, not science. Falling into a black hole doesn’t trigger evolution, it shreds you apart down to your atoms. Fortunately, the black hole in question is 30,000 light years away and poses no immediate (in the next billion years or so) threat.

Yes, you have it correct, nothing that goes in comes out, except maybe as radiation from just outside the hole.
But we are not lining up with anything in 2012. In December 2012 the Sun, Earth and the centre of the galaxy will not form a line, the angle is about 6 degrees off, that’s a lot in astronomy. What these people don’t tell you is that it happens twice every year. What they don’t tell you is that it would make next to no difference even if the line up was exact.
On top of that, the centre of the galaxy is around 26,000 light years away. Anything coming from there spreads out so thin by the time it gets this far that it’s hard to see, even with a pretty good telescope. You can calculate the effect of it’s gravity, the math isn’t complex and it comes to a tiny fraction of the effect of the Sun and Moon, mainly because it’s so far away.
So no worries.
