He is best known for his book Les Propheties (“The Prophecies”), the first edition of which appeared in 1555, which predicted the end of the world, but not necessarily in 2012

He spoke medieval French, wrote poetry in Latin and we’re at the mercy of whomever translates the stuff.
Where he can be found to have made a concrete prediction, he’s wrong more then 50% of the time. His supposed “predication” of 9/11 is a fake written after the event.
As the 2012 stuff is all hype and mostly fake it stands to reason the same applies to him.
Here’s an example of old nosty:
The year 1999, seventh month,
From the sky will come a great King of Terror:
To bring back to life the great King of the Mongols,
Before and after Mars to reign by good luck.
OK great. So in July 1999 a great being came from the sky ( “Independence Day? “V”? some other movie?) and brings Genghis Khan back to life. (Or is it Kublai Khan?) Anyway he doesn’t explain “why” this has to be done. Last “Mars” normally refers to war so an alien came to earth in 1999 brought Genghis back to life and we had a big war.
Oh wait, it didn’t happen.
