Critically examining the "End of the World"
What do you think of this whole Nostradamus thing about 2012?
The following is a question being asked on Yahoo Answers. Both the questions and answers given do not reflect the view of our website.
Question:
I just thought it was kind of interesting because I can remember when the year 2000 came around and everyone was thinking that the world would end at midnight Jan. 1st 2000. Do you think that Nostradamus is right or do you think we may be here after 2012? I personally don’t believe it.
I don’t believe what this man or mayan people have said. I to am a Christian and I believe that Jesus will come but not when we know it. He could come in 2 mins or in 100 years. To me that seems less scary then all of us are going to blow up or freeze.

Of course he’s not going to be right. People have been predicting the end of the world for hundreds of years, and they’ve been wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong.

They way people have been predicting, this world was supposed to end a LONG time ago. I personally don’t worry about it and instead spend everyday with a positive outlook, asking myself “how many people can I help today?”

How right you are about the Y2K ordeal. Hundreds of profits have “predicted” when the world would end; none suceeded. In this case, Nostradamus, too, will be proven wrong.

I dont believe it either but ive had weird dreams like the world ending and things like that and i have doubts and they are even making a movie about it i hope this is just like last time and 2012 will be just another year.

I used to be into Nostradamus, but if you read what he wrote, it is very vague. The problem with that is that you can make it into anything you want…he does not say “the world will end in 2012″ he said things in a way so that you can make it into whatever you want to believe.
It’s like what “psychics” do…..

Nostradamus has been wrong before. For instance, he claimed that in July of 1999, fire would rain down. Did it happen? No. I personally don’t believe it.

um i don’t think it was nostradamus who predicted that. ppl assumed it was 2012 bec. the mayan calendar ended at 2012 and that calendar has always been accurate.

Nostradamus doesn’t have anything to do with 2012.
Do a Google video search fro “esoteric agenda”… all the information you need about 2012 is there.

Don’t believe it…However there is an astroid, Apophis, that may be on a collision course with Earth that would hit in the year 2021

Well, it is not really about Nostradamus, but about the Mayan calandar instead.
You see, the Mayan calandar is perhaps the most advanced calendar.
The calendar ends in december 21st, 2012, and there is the belief that the world will end or that at least very catastrophic events will change the world as we know it today. I am sure if you google it from this angle, you’ll find more about the 2012 hype.
2012 has been linked to planet X by Zacharia Stitchin, but he has lost a lor of credibility lately. Here in Mexico the Mayan calendar thing is well known and there is split opinon about how to interpret it.
I hope this helps.

Have you read his actual quatrain? He himself doesn’t believe that the world will end in 2012. All of the events that have yet to occur that he “predicted” have been guessed by scholars, including the so called “apocalypse date”. We can guess that the first antichrist he predicted (having a name starting with N and taking over much of Europe) was Napoleon, and that the second named Hister was actually Hitler, but those are really the only two main things he has predicted that have been confirmed. So, Nostradamus didn’t predict that the world would end in 2012. That’s the scholar’s interpretation of his works and quatrains.
Personally I do not believe that the world will end in 2012. In my religion (Christianity) God said the end would come suddenly when it was not expected, so naturally if half the world expects everything to end some fateful day in 2012, I seriously doubt it will. But again, that’s just my Christian perspective. And I respectively disagree with anyone that thinks otherwise.
I will say that everything Nostradamus has predicted is very fascinating…and scary in its own way.
hahaha

good question.

The Bible is definitely correct and predicts the second coming of Jesus Christ. With all the end time signs seemingly being fulfilled you might expect to see Jesus in 2012. So be ready.

That has nothing to do with Nostradamus.
It has to do with the Mayan calendar. It ends in 2012, but that in no way means the Earth, or our human civilization will end. It just means it is the end of one cycle, and the beginning of a new one.
If I were you, I’d do some research on what it is all about before deciding to “believe” in it or not. There are other events that coincide with the date, such as a shift in our planet’s poles. Very interesting to read about.

Do a search of 2012 and see what you find.
Dec 21st, if you want a more exact date.
Apparently, there are a 1/2 dozen or more different “visionaries”, religions and cultures have been predicting a wide range of occurrences in 2012.
Many seem to warn of things that could be an interpretation of what could happen during a flip in the earths magnetic fields, which is DEFINITELY coming in the future. It has happened several times in our planets history.
Personally, I hope they are true. Based on what I have read, I live in one of a few areas on the planet that should see minor disruption.
Hopefully the survivors would be able to re-build a better civilization than this one has become.
I get a kick out of all the “God” “Theory” stuff.
What you are basically saying is that your religion is right.
You have less “proof” of that than the Mayans left.
LOL

Nothing is going to happen in 2012.
