Critically examining the "End of the World"
Why is everyone so sensitive on the subject of god and the 2012 theory’s?
The following is a question being asked on Yahoo Answers. Both the questions and answers given do not reflect the view of our website.
Question:
You have the right to your own opinions have the right to mine. And yes I do believe in God and I do believe something is going to happen in 2012. I am not ashamed to admit it nor talk about it.

I really do not feel that people here are sensitive to the subjects. However, I think that there are people here christian and atheist alike who can see the absurdity in that theory are refused to be misled by it, that is just biblical and common sense.

You should take a number and get in the endless line, right behind all the other failed predictors of the past decades.

Do you think I’m being sensitive about it if I retort I think those are some pretty whacko beliefs?

so your just telling this in yahoo answers for a pat on the back?

Alright. Fair.
Now — please present your evidence for both, and remember that I expect you to interpret your evidence through the lens of parsimony, which is to say, the interpretation requiring the fewest a priori assumptions is likely the correct such interpretation.
If you have such evidence, I’m quite interested.
If you have no evidence which parsimoniously defends your views, then don’t be surprised if I start laughing at you… or pitying you. Or heck, both.

I don’t give a toss what you believe. However, when you start polluting the internet with this garbage, and YA in particular, then I will take issue with it.

The Holy Bible and a pagan calender, are these not conflicting in the first place?

Its because 2012 thoerys over ride the book of revolations. you seem some sites that add the word in. 2012 is real soon and the end times is unknown. Know what I think? I think the 2012 that yes something is going happen but like they say. Like today something happened. I believe that GOD is Real, I believe that JESUS is real. I think its all big money scam. They selling books right on how to survive 2012 for 100′s of dollers.

2012 is human prediction and humans predictions are not true. Only God knows when the world will end and only the bible can predict it 100%

There is NO theory about the world ending in 2012, only half-baked hypotheses. Same thing goes for deities. There is no working theory of a god that lines up with observed evidence. It’s all hypothetical.
The reason I’m so sensitive about it is that I’ve spent my whole life dealing with this nonsensical behavior and it hasn’t improved our lives in any perceivable way. In fact, there’s ample evidence that this superstitious and backward approach to things is actually detrimental to humanity.
And the fact that it continues practically unabated makes me very sensitive…

No one is sensitive to it. We are tired of hearing about it! So you think something is gonna happen…that’s nice. And if you post something about it on YA, your going to have to expect some opposition. If you can’t handle that than keep your opinions to yourself.
BTW, The theory anything will happen on 2012 is due to Western Christians. There are dates on the calendar that go far past 2012. Actually read up on it!

ROFLMFAO! Who is the sensitive one now???
“Ok, First of all, I’m just curious about other people’s views. So if your going to be a ***** about it then you need to keep yours to yourself…….F*** yourself!!!!!!!!!!” Received via email at 11:26 am EST.

I am “sensitive” on the subject of “gods” existing because of the damage done throughout history, and still done daily, based on this idea. I am “sensitive” on the subject of the 2012 “theories” (they’re not theories, they’re conspiracy nuttery, but whatever) because they are so asinine and idiotic that only the most gullible of idiots would believe in them.

People are sensitive about everything. Race, gender, age, social class, religion, God, 2012, immigration, or whatever. I think it is best to break the mold of having the subconscious politically correct filter on everything you say. Say what needs to be said and let the sensitive people that get offended easily grow some thicker skin. Do not let truth be hindered by the potential to hurt someones feelings. Just hurt those sissy feelings and let truth prevail.

So you are voluntarily admitting to be gullible?

Remember last time when you thought all the computers were going to break on the first of january 2000? That didn’t happen did it. Also, what are you doing to prepare for 2012? Are you building a bunker, boat, Etc…? If not then you really know it’s BS and you’re only saying that you think it’s true to get attention. I mean how would someone who truly believes the world is going to end not going to prepare for that? I really hope you realize that by saying these things we don’t think you’re cool, or different, we think you’re nuts. If you were building a bunker I would take you more seriously. But as of right now, that’s crazy talk!

I’m not sensitive about it at all; I just think it’s ridiculous. Let me ask this: On what do you base your belief in God? If it’s the Bible, then maybe you’re not familiar with the verse that says “no one knows the day or hour; it will happen like a thief in the night.”

“everyone” – don’t include me in that. I am not sensitive on either subject thank you.
